Start with our free institution lookup to research an unfamiliar school. When you are ready to verify the candidate, VerifyBR validates their digital diploma or contacts the university on your behalf in Portuguese. We connect the qualification to the candidate through Gov.br identity evidence and bring the findings together in an English report. See the full process.
The free lookup makes unfamiliar Brazilian institutions easier to research in English. It shows the school’s e-MEC registry information, location, and listed course count, with an English overview for context. You can use it across your shortlist before paying for candidate verification. A school’s listing does not establish that an individual candidate graduated.
The overview uses registry facts and reviewed background where available. It does not assign a prestige ranking or evaluate the candidate.
Institution Lookup helps you research the school. Credential Check helps you examine the education claim. You can submit a resume or diploma to review the extracted details and institution or course matches, and identify questions to follow up on. Both tools are free, so you can use them while building a shortlist.
A missing course match or an unexpected date is a reason to look closer, not a fraud verdict. When you are ready to hire, Full Verification establishes the qualification through diploma validation or university confirmation and connects it to the candidate’s identity. See the step-by-step hiring guide.
Yes. Digital-diploma file checking is part of the free Credential Check, alongside resume and scanned-diploma screening. It helps you review the credential’s details. Full Verification adds candidate identity, qualification verification, our team’s university follow-up when needed, and an English report.
Our packages focus on Brazilian higher-education qualifications. Professional licenses, informal courses, foreign credentials, and formal US equivalency evaluations need a different scope. For an unusual qualification, email our team with the type of credential you need checked, and we can explain whether our service fits.
A digital diploma is the university’s electronic record of the qualification awarded to the named graduate. Its digital signatures allow authentication of the signed record and detection of changes. A screenshot does not preserve that signature protection. Verifying the diploma establishes the qualification; identity verification connects it to the candidate. MEC explains Diploma Digital.
Not every graduate has a digital diploma. Brazil introduced the relevant technical rules in 2019, followed by a phased rollout. The current requirement for undergraduate diplomas in the federal education system took effect on July 1, 2025. That is an issuance requirement, not a rule that every graduate after one particular year has the same document. Candidates who graduated before their institution adopted the format may have a paper diploma. MEC’s rollout information (Portuguese).
VerifyBR validates the original digital diploma when it is available. For older paper credentials or questions that need direct confirmation, our on-the-ground team in Brazil contacts the university on the buyer’s behalf, in Portuguese.
A picture of a signature or seal does not authenticate a diploma. A screenshot has no digital-signature protection. VerifyBR validates the original digital credential, or our team contacts the university in Portuguese when the available document does not settle the qualification. What is a digital diploma?

We target 1 to 5 business days after receiving the required documents. Digital credentials help us move quickly. Complex cases needing additional university records can take longer; our team handles the university follow-up in Portuguese.

Our team handles the document guidance and any university follow-up. Your team follows progress and downloads the English report from the web dashboard.
We do. Our team in Brazil contacts the relevant university office in Portuguese and follows its process. Your recruiter follows the case through the dashboard instead of coordinating the exchanges.
A university can still require a signed authorization or take time to respond. We explain what remains outstanding rather than treating an unanswered request as a negative result. Why an education check can take longer.
We do. If a document is missing, a detail needs clarification, or the university requests additional information, our team contacts the candidate directly in Portuguese and explains the next step. Your recruiter follows progress in the dashboard without having to relay messages or translate document requests.

Gov.br is Brazil’s government digital-account platform, used for everyday services such as tax returns and electronic document signing. Its signing service uses higher-assurance silver and gold accounts. VerifyBR validates the candidate’s signed verification document and matches the identity information to the request and education records. This connects the qualification to the candidate using government-backed evidence. Brazil’s government explains Gov.br in English.
We built our package around Brazil’s government-backed digital identity and signed academic credentials because we believe these are a strong foundation for verifying a Brazilian hire’s identity and qualifications together. A selfie cannot tell you whether someone earned a degree. Our approach connects authenticated qualification records with the candidate’s signed identity evidence.
Validating digital signatures lets us authenticate the signed evidence and detect changes to its contents. With a validated digital diploma, that protection also applies to the qualification record. We use the identity details across those records to connect the qualification to the candidate participating in the request.
That is why our current package prioritizes signed evidence rather than adding a separate live-selfie step. Liveness can provide an additional check on the person presenting the evidence; it does not replace qualification verification. Would your team value that additional layer? Tell us about your need for a liveness check.
We are exploring a service where a local verifier in Brazil meets the candidate and checks their identity document against the person present. Remote selfie checks can face spoofing attacks: NIST testing found that some attack types were difficult for all the passive software-based detection algorithms evaluated. That study does not cover every liveness product, but it demonstrates why a remote image should not be treated as an unquestionable guarantee. NIST’s presentation-attack research.
We believe a carefully conducted in-person check is a valuable option for employers who want someone to meet the candidate and inspect their ID directly, much as they could at their own office. For remote international hires, a local verifier could bring that step closer to the candidate without requiring travel to the employer’s office.
Initial coverage would focus on major Brazilian cities, depending on demand. This service is not available yet and is not included in our current packages. Register your interest and tell us which cities you need covered.
The $69 package reviews CTPS Digital, Brazil’s employer-filed digital record of formal jobs in Brazil. Freelance work, contracting through a business (often called PJ work), and overseas engagements may not appear. A missing entry does not mean the candidate invented the job. CTPS official questions.
Interested in verification of freelance, client, or overseas work? Email us about the coverage you need. We are gathering interest in this additional service; it is not included in the current employment package.
Criminal checks are outside the $49 and $69 packages. Whether one is appropriate for a remote Brazilian hire depends on the role and applicable law. Our screening and SOC 2 guide explains the distinction and gives examples.
No. It means the claim has not been confirmed through the available evidence. A university that has not answered is different from one that contradicts the degree claim. VerifyBR’s report makes unresolved questions visible so your team can decide the next step. Our team handles the university follow-up in Portuguese; your recruiter does not have to arrange it. Read about common delays.
If you need a formal US degree-equivalency evaluation accepted by a school, licensing body, or another recipient, follow that recipient’s requirements. VerifyBR focuses on confirming Brazilian qualifications and connecting them to the candidate’s identity. Compare WES and VerifyBR to choose the report that answers your question.
VerifyBR gives your team evidence about a Brazilian hire, organized in an English report. That can support a screening process that calls for education, identity, or formal employment checks. Your compliance officer, security team, or legal counsel decides which checks the role requires. A report alone does not make the business SOC 2 or LGPD compliant. Read how the evidence fits a SOC 2 screening process.
No. Purpose, scope, applicable law, data handling, and candidate rights still matter. For employment consumer reports subject to the FCRA, employers and screening companies have specific obligations. FTC employer guidance.
VerifyBR handles the candidate authorization step and document follow-up in Portuguese, then provides the verification findings to your hiring team. Your company remains responsible for choosing an appropriate screening scope, making the hiring decision, and meeting any applicable employer disclosure and notice requirements. Our service supports that process; it does not replace your legal obligations.
We explain what remains unconfirmed and the reason in the result. If you need help with the next step or a billing question, contact our team with the order details. Any credit or refund depends on the order and applicable policy; an unresolved claim is not treated as a confirmed qualification or as proof of fraud.
